District 1 is the heart of Lincoln — from the neighborhoods and schools where families grow, to the University campus that anchors our city’s economy, culture, and future. Stretching from Old Cheney, Highway 2, and Van Dorn north to the Lancaster County line, this district reflects the best of Nebraska’s spirit: hardworking families, vibrant small businesses, and a proud university community.
This district is home for me and my family. It’s where I practice medicine, raise my children, and invest in the future of Nebraska. Our neighborhoods pulse with student energy, our hospitals and research centers drive innovation, and our classrooms prepare the next generation of leaders.
The University of Nebraska sits at the center of District 1 — not just physically, but as an institution that fuels our city’s growth and shapes our state’s future. The choices made for this district ripple across the entire state, influencing tuition, research, workforce development, and the opportunities available to Nebraska’s families.
As Regent, I will serve District 1 with the same precision, dedication, and care I bring to my patients in the operating room — ensuring the University remains affordable, accountable, and a proud reflection of Nebraska’s values.
