Letter: Hosein the clear choice

As Nebraska faces rapid economic and technological shifts, the University of Nebraska needs principled, forward-looking governance. That is why I am voting for Dr. Jeremy Hosein for the University of Nebraska Board of Regents.

As a neurosurgeon, former White House Fellow, and past student regent, Dr. Hosein brings a rare blend of real-world problem-solving, fiscal discipline and institutional knowledge. In the operating room, precision and accountability are matters of life and death; he will apply that exact focus to higher education. Dr. Hosein will prioritize what matters most: making tuition affordable again, cutting bureaucratic bloat, and refocusing resources on teaching and student success. Unlike Dr. Hosein who sought an education in medicine to heal people, his opponent has spent most of his career involved in politics and political fundraising. Brent Comstock doesn’t come close to Dr. Hosein’s breadth of academic or professional accomplishment.

Dr. Hosein’s vision for the university is as a place that prepares graduates for tomorrow’s economy by promoting the latest technological and scientific literacy across all degree paths while expanding workforce partnerships. The university is our state’s premier land-grant educational institution and needs to again re-focus on providing low-cost quality education to its residents, a vision it has clearly lost sight of in recent years.

Dr. Jeremy Hosein has the dedication and expertise to ensure the university serves Nebraska families for generations to come. We are very fortunate to have someone of his caliber on the ticket for University of Nebraska Board of Regents.
