As a three-time University of Nebraska graduate, I believe our university benefits from leaders who can build coalitions, work across ideological differences, and keep academics — not politics, personal gain or political correctness — as the focus of the university system.
I've known Dr. Jeremy Hosein for over two decades and we've worked together constructively in state government to ensure best practices and the rule of law were followed. Through those experiences, I've witnessed firsthand Hosein's character, integrity, intelligence, and ability to build constructive relationships across the political spectrum for the good of Nebraskans. To focus on priorities.
Since then, I have witnessed Hosein return to medical school, get elected student regent for UNMC, marry and start a family, and begin his career as a neurosurgeon!
The future of the university, and indeed Nebraska, depends on a Board of Regents that not only understands the value of higher education and preparing minds for future opportunities, but is equally committed to making academics the focus of the institution over the unfortunate distractions of politics, political correctness, financial gain, and self-aggrandizement.
Dr. Jeremy Hosein brings experience as a Nebraska alumnus, former student regent, neurosurgeon, father, and public servant who understands how government works, embracing new technologies, while focusing on the fundamentals. I can think of no better candidate. The Board of Regents needs leaders like Hosein, who can bring people together in support of the university's mission.
